The General Office of the Ministry of Education of China recently released the list of 2021 national and provincial-level first-class undergraduate programs. SMAE’s program of Industrial Engineering was among the national first-class undergraduate programs and the program of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering among the provincial-level ones. So far, the school has two national first-class undergraduate programs: Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, and two provincial-level first-class undergraduate programs: Engineering Mechanics and Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering.

The program of Industrial Engineering was founded in 2000 and began to recruit undergraduate students in 2001. It was approved to be a doctoral degree program in 2003, an innovation demonstration program in Jilin Province in 2016, and a first-class discipline in Jilin Province in 2019. Oriented by the manufacturing industry, the program has always stuck to the path of distinctive, differentiated, and high-quality development, endeavored to cultivate talents with professionalism, dedication, teamwork spirit, and industrial engineering mind, and established a unique talent training system.

Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering is a new engineering program approved in 2018 and began to recruit undergraduate students in 2019. Abiding by the engineering education philosophy and National Construction Guide for Standard Systems of Intelligent Manufacturing and driven by the needs of society and enterprises, the program is committed to enhancing students’ professional ability, and cultivating compound and high-caliber engineering talents with strong innovation ability and international competitiveness. A talent training system focusing on the optimization of systems, advanced modes, innovative platforms, and deep integration has been established.

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is devoted to advancing the construction of national quality teaching resources and platforms. By implementing the Enhancement Action on Undergraduates’ Core Ability and the Enhancement Action on Undergraduates’ Influence, the school strives to cultivate engineering talents with integrity and professional competence who can create knowledge and solve problems, and make relentless efforts to address national major strategic issues, and facilitate local socio-economic development.
