Prof Yan, the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is an expert of aircraft life & structural reliability. He is a professor at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a researcher at the Beijing Aircraft Strength Institute, and a member of the Science & Technology Committee of the State Administration of Defense Technology. He is also an expert of the major safety project expert group in the Equipment Development Department of the Central Military Commission, an expert of the air force aviation technical equipment reliability expert group, and concurrently serves as the vice chairman of the China Invention Association. Doctor Yan has been committed to study of aircraft life and structure reliability science for more than 40 years. He established not only the reliability theory of aircraft economic life, but also the principle & compilation method of aircraft high-confidence median load spectrum. He invented the aircraft suspension multi-point coordinated loading calibration test method, created China's unique aircraft space distributed load measurement technology, and solved the important key technology of using an aircraft to carry out the load spectrum flight measurement and to determine and extend the life of aircraft group. His research results have been successfully used in the life determination, life extension and structural reliability design of thousands of aircraft, and have made important contributions to greatly improving the safe service life of active aircraft and ensuring flight safety.
